Sure, washing hands has to be a carefully observed routine, but relentless killng of every last microbe must make the immune system lazy, I suspect. I distinguish between clean dirt (spiders' webs, mud, etc.) and dirty dirt (e.g. canine offerings). The former gets removed from time to time; the latter I purge immediately it appears.
