Have you consitered a Gas generator. I just found a 5kw unit for R3k, the unit had 1hour runtime on it. It is sadly not automatic, but with ups's on the sensitive stuff, this unit quite easily powers my lights, the computers and the entertainment system, and I suspect it will power my Avaporative home air cooling unit as well, (which has not been installed yet).
